Opening Sequences that Introduce Characters - Introduction

Having looked at a number of opening sequences, I have noticed that a frequent purpose of opening sequences is to introduce characters, and establish their character traits.

For this piece of research, I am going to be looking at two opening sequences that focus on 'character'. This will help me be able to introduce my character(s) for my opening sequence in the most effective way possible.

In this research I would like to identify how the character's mise-en-scene (their costumes, any props, the location they are in and their body language) reflects or reveals their character traits to the audience.

The opening sequences I have chosen to look at and analyse in terms of character are Forrest Gump and Now You See Me.
