Opening Sequences that Introduce Location - Introduction

After looking at how opening sequences introduce characters and their traits, I have now chosen to see how locations are used in opening sequences, to set the mood for the film, to establish for the audience where the action will take place and to establish the genre.

I will be looking at whether the location is isolated, what the weather conditions might be, the beauty of the surroundings and anything else I come across that I feel is important.

The opening sequences I have chosen to look at to analyse location are The Karate Kid and The Notebook.
