Opening Sequence Analysis 4 - 'Jaws'

The fourth opening sequence I will be looking at is Steven Spielberg's Jaws, which is a thriller/horror hybrid.

This opening sequence does the following:

• Shows credits and company logos such as "Universal" along with actors' names,  the director's name, names of other crew members, and the title of the movie
• Has a very eerie atmosphere which creates an enigma for the audience, hinting at the threat - this reflects the genres of thriller and horror very well
• Uses suspenseful and intimidating music - typical of the genre
• Establishes the community
• Establishes location
