Opening Sequence Analysis 5 - 'Passengers'

The fifth opening sequence I will be looking at is Morten Tyldum's Passengers, which belongs to the science fiction genre.

This opening sequence does the following:

• Shows credits and company logos such as "Sony" and "Columbia", along with actors' names and the title of the movie
• Uses music that sounds alien-like, which reflects the sci-fi genre
• Establishes location but also shows props that are typical of the genre
• Titles appear on screen clarifying narrative information for the audience
• Creates an enigma for the audience
• Introduces the first narrative problem, which makes the viewer want to watch on
