Analysing Romantic Comedy Opening Sequences - Introduction

Now that I have expanded my knowledge by looking at the conventions of films from the romantic comedy genre, I am going to analyse five romantic comedy opening sequences, to see how the genre influences the conventions I have found.

I am going to look at the opening scenes for the following films:

There's Something About Mary

Knocked Up

Manhattan

Groundhog Day

The 40-Year-Old Virgin
