Romantic Comedy - Music
Music in romantic comedies tends to be upbeat (especially in rom-coms set in high schools, featuring younger characters), consisting of happy pop songs, to reinforce the positive mood of the genre. Often in the opening sequence there is a fun, lively and energetic song playing.
Music sets the mood for specific scenes, for example, if the character is in a rush, there would be fast paced music or when the character starts to fall in love, there would be angelic and possibly tranquil music.
In high-school rom-coms there is usually some sort of school dance or prom and these scenes would have lively music playing quietly in the background to keep the 'party atmosphere'.
