BBFC - Research on Certificates
I thought it might be useful as part of my research into romantic comedies to look at the BBFC website to consider an appropriate certificate or rating for my film.
The BBFC website contains information about specific films, on its BBFC Insight section, which allow viewers to find out exactly why the film has been given the rating it has received.
Romantic comedies can generally be anywhere from a U to an 18. However, realistically, my film will be either a 12A or a 15. Many of the films that I have looked at whilst researching the genre received 15 certificates, largely because of their more adult content when it came to issues such as sex, language and drug use which were often incorporated into the narratives of the films, usually to create farcical scenes.
